Kristine Leth Juul will take up her duties as prorector of Aarhus School of Architecture on 24 April. She has previously been employed by Aarhus-based landscape and planning office Møller & Grønborg A/S. Kristine Leth Juul is co-owner of this company, where she held the position of managing director for four years. A post she resigned from at the end of 2015 to be project manager on several of the company’s major development tasks.
Getting back to the roots
Besides becoming a part of the school’s day-to-day management, Kristine Leth Juul will as prorector be project manager for the new school of architecture in Aarhus which will be constructed at Godsbanearealerne. The new school is expected to be ready for occupation in 2020.
“Working for Møller & Grønborg has been a great pleasure, but the position as prorector is a unique opportunity to ‘get back to the roots’ when it comes to developing the architectural profession. I am looking forward to being part of the educational environment – and helping shape the construction of the new school of architecture”, says Kristine Leth Juul.
Employment and collaboration with business and industry
Based on her professional experience, she will also contribute to expanding the school’s relationship and cooperation with architectural practices.
“I believe in an outreaching and outward-looking approach. The students should meet drawing offices, companies and institutions. It is all about creating networks and meeting partners where they are. And it has to be a collaboration that benefits both sides if the relationship is to stand the test of time.”
Collaboration with business and industry should also contribute to improving the employability of the school’s graduates:
“Architects are better equipped than other professions when it comes to thinking innovatively, thinking holistically and working in a cross-disciplinary manner. These are skills that are in demand in many jobs today. Therefore, the new architects must learn to have a broad view through their studies when choosing a career path,” says the newly appointed prorector.
The right skills
Rector Torben Nielsen is looking forward to working with the new prorector:
“Kristine Leth Juul’s many years of professional experience, managerial skills, and professional network are precisely what the school needs to further develop the education at a high international level and ensure that our graduates find employment when they leave the school.”
Kristine Leth Juul graduated from Aarhus School of Architecture in 2001 and has been employed in several practices that work with landscape architecture before being employed by Møller & Grønborg A/S in 2004.
Kristine Leth Juul has been appointed prorector for a period of five years. Her period of employment consequently follows that of Rector Torben Nielsen. She is on a leave of absence from Møller & Grønborg but will continue to be active on the company’s board.
Kristine Leth Juul replaces Trine Berthold who, after three years as prorector, returned to her position as associate partner in shl architects.
