A publication by Studio Context

Cocoon is a publication about the Cocoon project – an ongoing experiment into space, construction, materiality and bamboo.

Bamboo is a unique material. It is a material of straw with a huge dimension and much potential. In the field of architecture and design it is a fantastic sustainable material for building and construction as well as for interior design and practical tools.

Through different international collaborations Studio Context has investigated the idea of working cross-cultural with a pedagogical approach focusing on experiments with function, materials, construction and space in a 1:1 scale on a human level.

This book tells the story of the Cocoon project. The approach on it, the inspiration behind it and the design and construction of it. It tells the story of how the idea first came to mind and the whole process that followed.
