Radical Sustainable Architecture is aware and thoughtful of the complexities that are involved in the decision making during the design process. Radical Sustainable Architecture acts contextually appropriate and works on adequate solutions with respect to all lifeforms and the limited resources of our planet.
Radical Sustainable Architecture is passionate about investigating and imagining innovative architectural approaches to the societal, climatic and environmental challenges in the face of climate emergency. We explore the making of space and our role (as architects) within this process through emerging methods and tools at different scales and in local and global contexts. Sustainable architecture encompasses a broader environmental and socio-economic context while focusing on diverse needs and the well-being of people, nature and non-human actors to ensure social justice and the plurality of perspectives.
Within the school’s research and education environment, our emphasis is on examining how transdisciplinary approaches such as anthropology, sociology, and psychology can foster new qualities, enrich imagination, and inspire sustainable architectural design. Besides, we acknowledge the importance of additional contextual influences (politics, history, culture, ethics, climate/climate change, pollution, ecology, resources, economy, technology, etc.) and their capability to renew the fundamentals of architecture towards a more sustainable future.
