This is a project that attempts to tackle urbanization and waste management. Investigating how we can recover the true value from discarded materials by incorporating waste materials in the construction industry to house the 3 billion people that within the next 20 years will need new homes.
It is ultimately an experimental housing typology that uses waste as a building material and inhabits one of the many empty fire walls in Berlin. The project tries to investigate if the way we reside could effect our behavior? If living in a smaller space could reduce our urge to consume? If we could use the waste materials to build?
Because us becoming better at recycling or up cycling wont magically solve the climate crisis. We need to change our consumption pattern, consume less, be more cautious with the things that we do consume and find new ways to recover the true value from the waste materials that we do produce. We need to start the unfolding of the future building typology, now.
