JUST HACK IT! FROM PENCIL TO PROPTECH
Jan is architect and partner at Vandkunsten. With his interest in juggling with the complexity of an architect’s every day, identifying new ways for our branch and also walking them, Jan constantly thrives to scan the field of working in between the artistic, the technical, processes, but also the economic boundaries that today define projects.
The strongest motivation is – and has been – the climate crisis and the obvious situation that a radical change is necessary in the building industry and society as a whole. Reaching the insight that these challenges will not be solved by just optimizing and/or substituting, but that rethinking, and a system change is needed has broadened the field of work in the last years.
Jan has a Ph.D. in sustainable system deliveries, has taught architects and engineers and is open to any form of sharing and spreading professional knowledge – while most of the time working silently in the background to demonstrate that much of what is necessary already is possible – if just we did it.
Kauschen will participate in the panel debate ‘Just Hack it! From pencil to proptech’ together with Jakob Strømann-Andersen, Architect, Partner and Director of Innovation and Sustainability at Henning Larsen Architects, and Marie Frier Hvejsel, Professor of construction and building technologies at Aarhus School of Architecture. The discussion will focus on the digital tools and programmes as dominant partners in contemporary design practice. While architects are attending an ever-increasing number of meetings, new technologies are shaping the actual design. Have architects been made redundant by Real Estate thinking, who is really the architect, and who is the client?
The debate is moderated by Asbjørn Staunstrup Lund, Curator, Architect at Vandkunsten.
