Olaf Grawert plans, writes and talks about architecture and takes a huge interest in the political and economic conditions of spatial production. Grawert works collaboratively between Berlin and Zurich in a close network of people and institutions, developing architectural projects between theory and practice – from campaigns, exhibitions, publications and films to teaching and building projects with architects such as Berlin-based Brandlihuber+.
“If we understand that architecture is more than the built object and start thinking of its constraints and conditions as design tools, we will be able to gain new agency for our profession and new meaning for our work in the future,” Olaf Grawert states.
He is also a researcher and teacher at s+ [station.plus] a design and research chair at the ETH Zurich that focuses on storytelling and time-based media as design tools. s+ wants to communicate and represent architecture as a discipline that affects each and every one of us. It opens design to different factors such as societal and political transformations which become the stories of architecture.
