What roles do architects have in shaping the future? If you ask Kate Raworth, an economist focused on exploring the economic mindset needed to address the 21st century’s social and ecological challenges, the answer is clear:

Architecture and design is essential for shaping the future we need to create.

Kate Raworth is known for her work with “Doughnut economics” – a visual framework for sustainable development – shaped like a doughnut or lifebelt – combining the concept of planetary boundaries with the complementary concept of social boundaries.

When we opened our new architecture school in Aarhus, Kate Raworth was so kind to send us this inspiring video addressing her views on the role of architecture and design in shaping a better future for all. We are happy to be able to share this video with all of you. Thank you, Kate, for your special contribution.
