The A.P. M\u00f8ller Foundation supports the arrangement of the new school of architecture<\/strong><\/h1>\n

The A.P. M\u00f8ller Foundation has donated funds for a media space and library and a high-tech lecture hall<\/h4>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>

Aarhus School of Architecture has received a donation of DKK 26 million from the A.P. M\u00f8ller Foundation for the arrangement of the new school of architecture. The funds will go towards two specific areas in the new building.<\/p>\n

Most importantly: a media space and library. This space, called Mediateket, will be the lifeline of the school’s dissemination of architecture. It will contain the school’s academic and research library and its materials collection – and will be open to the school’s students, teachers and researchers, but also to everyone else with an interest in the theory and history of the architectural profession, the latest research results, magazines, etc.<\/p>\n

The second project that the A.P. M\u00f8ller Foundation has chosen to support is Didakteket, a modern rethinking of the traditional lecture hall and teaching room.<\/p>\n

The room is equipped with the latest IT equipment to facilitate the innovative digital dissemination of architecture, online teaching, knowledge sharing and dialogues based on mobile technologies.\u00a0Didakteket will accommodate traditional lectures that are open to students as well as the citizens of Aarhus. This space will also be used for the exhibitions and critiques\/project presentations of students and e.g. public debates for the entire city.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>

Torben Nielsen, the school’s rector, is naturally very pleased to have received the donation:<\/p>\n

“I am very grateful and happy that the A.P. M\u00f8ller Foundation has chosen to support the arrangement of the new school of architecture. They share our vision for educating the architects of tomorrow, and their contribution will allow us to raise the quality of both teaching and the environment at the new school”.<\/p>\n

The A.P. M\u00f8ller Foundation has attached great importance to the way Danish architects have made a name for themselves among the best in the world.<\/p>\n

“The foundation is pleased that Aarhus School of Architecture will finally be gathered under one roof, under proper conditions, and in a building characterised by exciting architecture. With this donation we support an education that is already well-known at home and abroad for its very high quality. For several decades the school has trained the employees and owners of many renowned architectural practices. This donation will ensure that more of the school’s high ambitions for the education can be realised, which is very positive,” says Henrik Tvarn\u00f8, director, The A.P.
