Associate Professor from Aarhus School of Architecture joins the curatorial team for the Venice Architecture Biennale 2027<\/h1>\n<\/div><\/section>\n

Urszula Kozminska from Aarhus School of Architecture will explore the opportunities for stopping the demolition of single-family homes as part of the curatorial team for the Danish submission to the Venice Architecture Biennale.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n

Urszula Kozminska, an Associate Professor at Aarhus School of Architecture, is part of the interdisciplinary team curating the Danish contribution to the 20th International Architecture Biennale in Venice in 2027. The team, led by Dominique Hauderowicz and Kristian Ly Serena, will focus on the housing models of the future, centered around the single-family home\u2014a housing form that needs rethinking to address climate challenges and new family structures.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>

A new architecture for the future welfare society<\/h5>\n

Under the theme “Towards a New Architecture,” the jury for the Danish contribution in 2027 aims to highlight how architecture can contribute to the welfare society of the future.<\/p>\n

Urszula Kozminska looks forward to contributing to the curatorship of the Danish pavilion and emphasizes the importance of collaborative aspect of the project:<\/p>\n

“I am both proud and excited to be part of a team that brings together so many different experts. This is a project that reaches beyond architecture and incorporates social, political, and economic perspectives. I\u2019ve worked a lot with issues related to building bans and demolition stops, and I imagine that will be my focus within the team. It\u2019s a critical topic when we discuss how to preserve and transform our buildings and environments for a sustainable future.”<\/p>\n

Kozminska also sees this as a valuable opportunity to integrate the Biennale\u2019s themes into the teaching at Aarhus School of Architecture.<\/p>\n

“This fall, in Studio 3, we\u2019ll already be working with some of the same themes that will be featured in the pavilion in Venice. We need to rethink how we live, especially when it comes to single-family homes, which may no longer make sense from a climate perspective in the way we know them today. It\u2019s an exciting challenge where we can showcase new ways of ecological living and housing.”<\/p>\n

Urszula Kozminska is enthusiastic about exploring future architectural visions and hopes the Danish contribution to the Biennale will inspire new approaches to urban development and housing:<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s an incredibly relevant discussion with the potential to influence how we build and live in the future. I\u2019m really looking forward to diving into the project and contributing to developing the knowledge that will underpin the Danish pavilion. It\u2019s a fantastic opportunity to unfold my research interests within this project that could contribute to the international debate.”<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>
