Sanne van der Burgh (NL) is Associate Director and Architect at MVRDV, where she leads MVRDV NEXT, the studio\u2019s R&D department focused on sustainability through new technology.<\/p>\n

Passionate about planetary care and computational workflows, Sanne heads a special carbon taskforce working on radical carbon reduction in the building industry. Her dedicated team focuses on biobased, nature-inclusive, and circular construction. As an architect, Sanne has led diverse teams within MVRDV on projects across scales, phases, and continents, including the Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen (2021), the refurbishment of Lyon Part Dieu shopping center (2021), and the Barapullah Springs project in New Delhi (2020). A strong advocate for environmental awareness in architecture, urbanism, and daily life, she believes in design\u2019s ability to inspire and positively impact people and places. Sanne was named one of Architizer\u2019s 25 young architects to watch (2019) and won the Female Frontier Award for Innovation in Architecture (2021). She regularly lectures and serves on juries worldwide.<\/p>\n
