An entire year’s work of mapping East Jutland – from Randers in the north to Haderslev in the south – has now been concluded and is ready for use. The parties of the project now look forward to presenting the results.

The project Den Østjyske Millionby (The East Jutland Metropolitan Area) has explored the potential of creating coherence throughout East Jutland across trades, towns, nature and infrastructure.

‘East Jutland is the largest growth centre when you exclude the Copenhagen area. We have now leant more about the connections and structures of the East Jutland Metropolitan Area – and have a clearer picture of the strengths and interests we share. This provides a very good basis for the municipalities of East Jutland to jointly assume responsibility for driving regional development and contributing to national growth’, says Jens Ejner Christensen, chairman of The Triangle Region and mayor of Vejle Municipality.

The aim of the project was to explore the potential for creating a coherent and overall structural image of East Jutland. The image of the urban regional structure should provide a basis for ongoing dialogue on the value of working together more closely to ensure that the East Jutland Metropolitan Area develops in a visionary and sustainable direction that provides good living conditions for the citizens and ensures that business and industry have good conditions for growth.
