Practical information
Who can attend Open Architecture Day?
All architecture lovers are welcome to attend the festival. Among the participants, you will find Danish and international architects from practice, political voices within architecture and building as well as researchers, teachers and students from Aarhus School of Architecture.
How long does the festival last?
Open Architecture Day is one day, 8 September 2022, from 09.00 to 21.00.
Can I secure a seat in advance for specific sessions or keynotes?
In a traditional festival manner, you move between various scenes on a first-come, first-served basis and it is not possible to secure a seat in advance. Therefore, you are encouraged to arrive early if you want to be guaranteed a seat for a specific activity. If you do not get a seat, there will be limited capacity to stand behind the seating area at all stages – controlled by security personnel on the day.
Can you buy food and drinks at the festival?
There is ample opportunity to buy different street food in front of the school. It will also be possible to buy water, soda, beer, wine, etc., throughout the day.
Where can I park my car?
We recommend the paid parking area at Godsbanen at Skovgaardsgade 3, 8000 Aarhus, or Scandinavian Center Parking at Margrethepladsen, 8000 Aarhus.
What is the capacity for the event?
It is currently difficult to predict how many participants will attend the festival, but we expect between 800 and 1.000 participants.
When will the full programme be presented?
The full programme will be announced in June, but keynotes and speakers will continually be announced on Aarhus School of Architecture’s Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and at aarch.dk/open.
Will Open Architecture Day be in Danish or in English?
Our international keynotes will speak English at Open Architecture Day. The same applies for performances on stage, where non-Danish speakers attend. Performances such as panel discussions of only Danish speaking participants will be in Danish. When the full programme is announced, the language of each performance will be stated clearly. No translation will be available.
Can I join the festival at all times during the day?
You are welcome to join the festival whenever you want to. Check-in is possible all day, and your ticket(s) gives you access all day.
Can I leave the festival and come back after check-in?
Once you are registered at the entrance, you will receive a bracelet. You can leave the festival and come back whenever you like, you just have to show your bracelet at the entrance before you go back in.
