Ecologies of Stone

Our group is actively exploring research methods and potentials around the use of larvikite from Larvik, Norway. Currently designated a Global Heritage Stone Resource by the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS), larvikite has been quarried since 1884 as an ornamental stone primarily for global consumption. However, in recent years, an emphasis on finding uses for waste rock has led to our group to explore larvikite as a structural material.

Current research activities:

CASE STUDY: LARVIK, NORWAY (LARVIKITE)
