This publication contains a discussion of the hybrid and the compact as architectural concepts. It is based on a studio course at the Aarhus School of Architecture, during which analyses and transformations of two of Le Corbusier’s projects provided a starting point for specific design projects. The course identified the two concepts as tangible spatial and sensate categories that qualify architecture as an accommodating and thus fundamentally habitable structure.
In addition to a presentation of the assignments and examples of student work, the publication contains two essays, in which the involved teachers reflect on the thematics of the study programme.
