The City is Calling – Creative Summer School for Children and Young People
Do you enjoy creating, being creative, and letting your imagination run wild? Then the summer school The City is Calling is definitely for you!
Come and join five fantastic summer days at the Aarhus School of Architecture, where you can explore the city’s spaces and make new friends.
Architects from the Utzon Center and students from the Aarhus School of Architecture are ready with a summer school where you will work with some of the architect’s methods and tools while you experiment, draw, design, and build. And you will be together with other children who share the same interests.
Experiment with the city’s spaces
We base ourselves on the built environment and the city with its squares, plazas, and houses, when we dive into design processes, exercises, and tasks. Architecture must be experienced with all our senses, so we will go on city walks, discover new things, and come up with good ideas for (design) solutions to concrete problems. And don’t worry – there is plenty of time for breaks, where we enjoy each other’s company and have fun.
You don’t need to be a master designer or have experience with 3D programs and drawing when you start summer school. You just need to want to experiment, work with the city’s architecture, have fun, and use your imagination.
And you should like working in an investigative and experimental way. The rest our team of skilled architects and educators will teach you.
You need to bring your own packed lunch, clothes to work in – and maybe money for ice cream.
There is room for 12 children in each group.
Age group: 10-14 years
Place: Aarhus School of Architecture, Exners Plads 7, 8000 Aarhus C
