365 DAYS – Daily Didactics is an exhibition about didactics and a student’s first 365 days at Aarhus School of Architecture.
The exhibition is a chronological presentation of the exercises, workshops and projects the school’s first-year students participated in over the past year. It includes everything from plans, model building, mapping and study trips to architectural theory.
The exhibition paraphrases a studio with drafting tables and an architectural mix of works, accessories and leftovers from large and small projects – from the admission test and the first tentative sketches to the student is introduced to the basic tools and work process of architects. All of which helps give students a thorough introduction to the discipline.
To many students, the studio becomes a hub for both academic and social development, and it assumes a central position in the daily life of students. The studio is a place that can accommodate both the unrestrained and the focused: there is room for disappointment and frustration as well as surprise and enthusiasm.
When it comes to the education at Aarhus School of Architecture, the fact is that what we worked with yesterday provides the basis of what we do today – and naturally influences what we will be working on tomorrow.
