Drop by the school and experience nine timber blocks in solid oak. Experience the objects, the space they occupy and the space created in between them. To do so you need to make use of your body. Therefore you are allowed to touch the objects and measure them with the scale of your body.
Each block measures 450 x 450 x 2100 mm and is proportionally subdivided horizontally and vertically. Within the subdivision all possible forms are investigated. The blocks are organised in a grid formation. The exhibited formation is one out of 362,880 possible.
When: From 1 September 2016

Homage to Hertzberger
In 1986 Herman Hertzberger submitted a proposal to the Urban Redevelop Plan for Bicocca-Pirelli in Milan. The proposal consisted of a series of towers that was formerly interrelated and organised in a firm grid structure. All towers were geometrically “carved” out of the same “standard block” and hereby forming an integral composition.
Ever since the project has come to Anders Gammelgaard Nielsen’s knowledge the distinctive geometric expression deriving from simple cuts of a “standard block” has been of great inspiration. Likewise the strong spatial identity of the spaces occurring as the units are organised in the firm grid. Mass and void coexist inevitably and can be sculpted simultaneously.
