Experience the exhibition The City as a Palimpsest that explores the question how was the city created and how will it develop in the future?
The exhibition shows 40 plaster models of major cities from the four corners of the world: Africa, Asia, America, and Europe. The models are designed and cast by 80 bachelor students under the guidance of Associate Professors Andriette Ahrenkiel, Thomas Hilberth, and Thomas Juel Clemmensen as well as research assistant Nacho Ruiz Allen and temporary lecturer Jane Willumsgaard.
The students have explored how traces of earlier events and history are embedded in the urban structure. And also how latent possibilities and potentials for a future development can be distinguished in the urban structure too. The students were challenged to reveal and identify these different layers to gain an understanding and knowledge of the urban essence itself.
