The project site closest to the city is also the outdoor spaces of the Aarhus School of Architecture – a former freight train area, which is today in a process of transformation and will, in a few years’ time, emerge as a new, dense urban district.
The site was integrated into the Aarhus Landscape Laboratory in 2020 in connection with the development of the new architecture school. Today, the site is at the centre of experiments into relocating and grafting nutrient-poor habitats and of experimenting with the reuse of local materials.
It is also the setting of full-scale (1:1) student-driven initiatives and projects, including the Front Yard project; a project that received funding from The Villum Foundation in 2023 and focuses on establishing a new outdoor space that can be used by the school’s students and by visitors to Godsbanen.
