You can experience sustainable wood design up close when the library opens an exhibition with the school’s participants in the FSC Design Award 2015.

All the exhibited works come from Studio MAD and Studio Design and Social Innovation.

The FSC Design Award 2015, a design competition for architecture and design students, was awarded in November, and four of the ten nominees were from Aarhus School of Architecture.

The finalists from the School of Architecture were Lærke Bo Poulsen, Mathias Ørum Nørgård, Samuel Møller Nielsen and Tania Mikkelstrup, who participated with a piece of furniture, a lamp, a combination of sink and table and a bookcase, respectively.

The winner was Thomas Bundgaard from VIA Design for his FuncTure Side Table, which the judges highlighted for its “simplicity and functionality”. The side table can also function as both a newspaper holder and a stool.

The overall goal of the FSC Design Award is to inspire future designers to incorporate sustainability into their designs and to see wood as a natural element in sustainable design.

The FSC Design Award has been won by students from Aarhus School of Architecture several times, most recently in 2014 when Sigrid Juel Jensen won with the mute servant Skrue.
