Concrete Moves

We are proud to present an exhibition of the work of PhD-Fellow Anders Kruse Aagaard.

Anders is currently working on his PhD project Bespoke Fragments. The exhibition shows a video and 12 material tests selected from a larger production of concrete experiments called Concrete Moves.

The research project Bespoke Fragments seeks to explore and utilise the space emerging between digital drawing and fabrication and the field of materials and their properties and capacities. Within this span, the project is situated in a shuttling between the virtual and the actual, investigating levels of control and uncertainty originating from these.

In Concrete Moves, a series of experiments, the encounter of robotic motions and the behaviour of concrete is investigated. Repeating the identical movements of a robotic arm shapes the hardening material. Iteration by iteration form appears as a consequence of the fusion of specific technique and material properties.

The exhibition by Anders Kruse Aagaard is part of the exhibition series FORSK!

The aim of the exhibition series is to demonstrate the nature of a PhD project at Aarhus School of Architecture. At our school PhD students use methods from the architectural discipline, e.g. drawing, modelling and experiments, as academic research methods. The aim is to develop and strengthen project-oriented and innovation-driven research, also known as research by design.
