This is our first field workshop for our DFF scientific research network (link to top level DFF network description), conducted on September 14-16, in Larvik, Norway, at the quarries of Lundhs. We ask the common question, What is the quarry as an ecological landscape? Working with earth and environmental sciences to understand the full environmental consequences of processing stone, we will have quarry tours and presentations that may include: case studies of pre-capitalist extraction and indigenous notions of geology and building culture; adaptive reuse of quarries; ecological rehabilitation and rewilding; quarry design (size, frequency, type).
