Espen Lunde Nielsen (DK) is an architect, urban planner, and researcher. He is partner and Head of Architecture at BRIQ, an interdisciplinary architectural studio based in Copenhagen.

Espen’s commitment to an innovative and exploratory approach to transformation, urban life, sustainability, and nature-based materials contributes to BRIQ’s architecture projects challenging the boundaries of a new aesthetic, social communities, and the planetary agenda.

In 2017, he was awarded a PhD for his dissertation Architectural Probes of the Infraordinary: Social Coexistence through Everyday Spaces, which explored the unnoticed spaces of the city as key social meeting places often overlooked in urban development and design. Espen is also actively involved in the Danish architectural community and has received support from the Danish Arts Foundation and the Dreyers Foundation. He is a peer reviewer for the Journal of Artistic Research and Magasin for Bygningskunst og Kultur, and a member of the Kunstnersamfundet and the External Corps of Examiners (KADK, Aarch).
