Time: 10:00 - 14:00
Location: Exners Plads 7, 8000 Aarhus C

Bring the whole family to an exciting workshop and open house at the Aarhus School of Architecture, where you can design and build your very own shelter together.

This spring, architects from the Utzon Center and students from Aarhus School of Architecture invite you to a fun and inspiring Saturday workshop all about architecture. Here, you’ll get the chance to design and build your very own shelter.

You’ll start by creating a model of your hideout at a 1:10 scale. Once your dream design is ready, you can begin building it in full size!

Along the way, you’ll learn about space, proportions, light, and other key elements that architects work with when designing buildings and urban spaces.

And psst… while you’re building and having fun, you’ll actually be learning a lot about architecture and construction – including important concepts like scale and measurement, which are essential tools for every architect.

There will also be a chance for parents to take a guided tour of the school while the kids are busy in the workshop.

The workshop is for all children interested in architecture – and their parents – who want to explore and create something truly unique together.

And the best part? It’s completely free to join!

No registration needed.

This open house marks the beginning of a series of events focused on architecture and urban space for children and young people. Keep an eye out for our summer schools and afternoon programs in fall 2025 and spring 2026, where children aged 9 to 14 can “study architecture” after school. The project is a collaboration between Aarhus School of Architecture and the Utzon Center, supported by the Danish Arts Foundation.
