Textures of Time
In the exhibition "Textures of Time", architects Line Broberg Egebo and Sofie Johnsen explore cultural heritage and preservation through the lens of architecture in the historic city center of Taranto, Italy.
Join us on June 26 at 15:00 for the opening of Textures of Time – an exhibition by architects Line Broberg Egebo and Sofie Johnsen. The exhibition explores questions of cultural heritage and preservation through large-scale latex casts of endangered architecture from the historic city center of Taranto, Italy.
What is worth preserving?
Through a meticulous 1:1 preservation of three decaying buildings in Taranto Vecchia, the exhibition invites visitors to engage with the fragile beauty of what is often overlooked. These surfaces—marked by pollution, time, and human neglect—become physical imprints of a city’s complex recent history.
The exhibition captures the unpredictable aesthetics of decay: spontaneous patterns formed as architecture is reclaimed by nature. What may appear ordinary at first glance reveals subtle details and hidden narratives upon closer inspection.
The two artists, who graduated from the Aarhus School of Architecture in 2024, developed Textures of Time as an extension of their final thesis project. Their work has received recognition from both the Danish Arts Foundation and the Jubilee Fund of the National Bank of Denmark for its innovative approach to preservation that reaches beyond human-centered narratives.
The work was first shown as part of the group exhibition Lasting Impressions in Taranto.
