Where Do Your Materials Come From?
Architectural materials are the building blocks of our profession. They are also the sites of human rights abuses, with forced labour rampant in the supply chain of most manufactured products used to construct our homes, shops, schools, and daycares. How might we be better informed of the risks associated with designing and building with at-risk materials? In a journey that leads us to the origins of corporate supply chains, this talk reminds us that we must do more to recognize how the built environment profits from forced labour.
