Sofie Burgos-Thorsen (DK) is a sociologist and PhD in data science and urban planning with over 10 years of experience as a researcher and R&D specialist at institutions such as MIT, Gehl Architects, Techfestival, the Institute for Futures Studies, and Techno-Anthropology Lab.

Drawing on technological innovation, critical systems thinking, and transformative design practices, she works to address social and environmental justice issues in close collaboration with local citizens and communities, as exemplified in the Urban Belonging Project, Do You Live in a Bubble, and South Park Youth Vision Project. She is currently Chief Analyst and ‘data rebel’ at the Institute for Wild Problems, where she leads the think tank’s use and development of data science and AI-based methods to rethink political decision-making processes based on participatory design and a broader diversity of voices.
