Event Details
Join the annual architeture festival OPEN23 on September 7 at Aarhus School of Architecture. This year’s theme will be Solidarity.
Once again, we will invite the profession and all architecture lovers inside our school together with students, teachers, and researchers.
Ticket release expected in April 2023.
We can no longer settle with being in Solidarity. At this point in time, we have to act in Solidarity.
What we once considered an ecological crisis, now manifests itself as a cosmological polycrisis with Earth in desperate need of our attention. The question is, will we as architectural collective be able to rise, invent new practices, new aesthetics – new paradigms?
We want to challenge if Solidarity in architecture has the power to activate change, and the beginning of a new circle.

Tør du se dine fordomme i øjnene?

Are you ready to face your prejudices?
As architects, we create spaces for different ways of living. But are you aware of your unconscious biases? All people are biased. We are biased in everything we do – our studies and work.
We invite all our partners in the profession who are interested in the subject, students, and colleagues to a seminar on unconscious bias and diversity. The purpose of the seminar is to make us more aware of bias to improve our ability to block its negative effects on our decisions, relationships and collaborations.
Bias causes us to make safe and familiar decisions, look for people who resemble us, and prefer situations that make us feel safe but in which we do not develop. When we become aware of bias, we open up to more diversity in our approach to others.
Achieving diversity can, however, be difficult because ensuring psychological safety and an inclusive culture requires more of us. Working with bias is not only important to open up to diversity. It is also important because it requires inclusion and provides an opportunity to challenge your thought patterns and those of other people and the way you approach people in our shared everyday life.
Attendance is free. The seminar is open to everyone. Signing up is not necessary.

Aida Español Vilanova defends her PhD thesis: The Works of An Architect. Tectonic Matters.
The thesis presents the built works of the Danish architect Hans Christian Hansen (HCH, 1901-1978) who worked at the office of the city architect in Copenhagen between the late 1930’s and early 1970’s. The hypothesis is that HCH´s works are characteristic from a tectonic perspective and quite unique in its geographical and historical context.
