International Architecture Competition – “A tourist shelter on the top of Jeżowa Woda mountain with a restaurant and viewing terraces”

Organised by the IDEANOVA Foundation, the competition is aimed at both novice as well as experienced architects from around the world. The Competition Regulations are available in as many as six languages – Polish, English, Italian, Spanish, German and French.

The subject of the competition is to design a tourist shelter to be built on the Jeżowa Woda mountain, in the Island Beskids (Beskid Wyspowy) in a beautiful, forested part of the Western Beskids (between the Raba Valley and the Sądecka Basin). The design must include viewing terraces and space for a restaurant.

The designed facility should be a place of a modern character, with a form that extends into the distant future, and at the same time remains in harmony with the surrounding nature. The top floor will rise above the treetops and will be seen from all nearby peaks. The municipality of Limanowa has issued legally binding Development Conditions for the construction of the shelter, the crowning moment of the competition will be not only the financial prize, but also cooperation in the construction of the facility.

The jury consists of specialists in the field of architecture and art, as well as the authorities of the region. A grand prize of EUR 5,000 is provided for by the competition Organiser, with an additional People’s Choice Award of EUR 1,000 to be granted. Additional awards as distinctions are also planned.

To participate, it is required to register for the competition by March 31, 2023, and then until April 30, 2023 submit the competition entry work for the first stage. The designs selected for the second stage will be made public on June, 30, 2023 and subject to an on-line vote to determine the winner of the People’s Choice Award.

The results of the jury sessions and the on-line voting are to be announced at the Gala on July 27,2023.
