Cartoon about Aarhus Architecture
Architecture students are not only good at drawing buildings, it turns out that they can also make comics.
In the coming weeks, you will have the opportunity to see a selection of architectural criticism comics at the library, which were produced in connection with a workshop on architectural criticism for second-year students.
What is good architecture?
When the school’s second-year students followed a course on architectural criticism in January, they were assigned to create an architectural criticism representation in comic format of a modern building in and around Aarhus. Among the buildings were Egaa Gymnasium, Aarhus Raadhus, DOKK1 and Kræftpatienternes Hus Hejmdal.
At a pop-up exhibition, the architectural criticism comics were displayed, and three winners were chosen from 24 participating groups. The jury consisted of three of the school’s employees, as well as the city architect of Aarhus Stephen Willacy and the director of ARoS Erlend Høyersten.
The workshop was led by Professor MSO Ruth Baumeister and Associate Professor Jonathan Foote.
