The School Board is responsible for the totality of the activities of the Aarhus School of Architecture. The board’s purpose is to promote the school’s strategic work and look after its interests as an institution of artistic teaching and research.
Upon the recommendation of the Rector, the School Board lays down guidelines for the institution’s organisation, long-term activities, and development. It is the responsibility of The School Board to appoint and dismiss deans and enter into a framework agreement with the Ministry of Higher Education and Science.
The School Board consists of nine members, five of which are external. Collectively the members must have experience from management, organisation, economic management, as well as from the areas of recruitment and the professions the School’s education is aimed at.
Four of the external board members are appointed by The Minister for Culture of Denmark, while the fifth external member, who must have special qualifications in our central subject area, is appointed by Danish Arts Council. The Minister of Education of Denmark appoints the chairman and vice-chairman.
The School elects four board members: one representative for the artistic and academic staff; one for the technical administrative staff, and two students.
