The Blue Wall: Can plastic patinate?

A blue plastic wall has adorned the yard in the old school of architecture in Aarhus for a year. Two researchers wanted to see how it would take to the sun and the rain.

Suburbian carports and sheds are full of polycarbonate sheets. But what happens when they crack or get worn out? Associate professor Chris Thurlbourne and research assistant Mads Hulsrøj Jæger have explored ways to offer them a new lease of life and see if plastic can in fact patinate like a natural material.
