Yara Sharif (PS) is a Palestinian architect and academic based in the UK. Through research and design, her work seeks to disrupt colonial power structures and hierarchies of knowledge production, advocating for alternative narratives and spatial practices that challenge erasure.
She co-founded the Palestine Regeneration Team and Architects for Gaza (AFG), a global platform of architects, academics, planners, and researchers committed to Gaza and Palestine through principles of spatial justice and decoloniality.
Her book Architecture of Resistance, along with her broader work on reimagining spatial possibilities in Palestine, has received several prestigious awards and has been widely exhibited and published.

Architects for Gaza’s strategy for healing and empowering the scarred landscapes of Gaza centres on accumulated small-scale, site-specific interventions as an alternative to master plans and a one-size-fits-all approach. At a time when global powers openly call for turning Gaza into a blank canvas and redrawing it, architecture has the potential to challenge the colonial narrative and hierarchy of knowledge production, exploring repair as resistance, mourning, and continuity.
