‘There is no building without regulations and good architecture doesn’t always follow the rules’ it says on the cover of the 12thedition of the Dutch architecture journal Hunch published by Rotterdam’s Berlage Institute in 2009. Today, the regulatory landscape expands increasingly, especially in response to the urgent call for sustainable development of the built environment. But do the current development and forms of regulations suffice in supporting sustainable development in architectural practice? With this seminar, we wish to cultivate a critical and creative entrance to the regulatory landscape, possibly provoking alternative forms of regulations and standards through activation of our field specific knowledge across architecture and engineering.
Speakers
Steffen Petersen, Professor at the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at Aarhus University
Mads Møller, Architect and Founder at Arcgency
Hanne Tine Ring Hansen, Intrapreneur and Technical Director at Søren Jensen
The seminar is a two-part event with external guest lecturers and studio workshop. The presentations by our external guests are open to the public at 13:00 – 14:30.

After University, we thought we would change the world by
designing a city in China or building a Europan project.
About Enorme
Studio:
ENORME Studio is an
architecture and design office based in Madrid and led by Rocío Pina and
Carmelo Rodríguez.
ENORME is best characterised by their radical approach to
architecture, city and people. They design and build architecture projects
based on industrial systems and typological innovation, as well as perform
participation dynamics in the domain of city construction. Their aim is to
foster alternative ways to examine urban issues and to motivate the creation of
a proactive citizen culture.
They design and apply tactical urbanism tools that transfer
teamwork strategies and collective thinking dynamics into public and private
space design and management.
ENORME’s aim is to give the city back to citizens as an
emotional, plural and relational space.
Their work has been
exhibited at Mostra Internazionale di Architettura de La Biennale di Venezia,
Bienal de Arquitectura y Urbanismo Española, MOMA Museum of Modern Art, Oslo
Architecture Triennale “After Belonging” among others and their production has
been published in the most important media including Domus, AV, The New York
Times, The Guardian, Arquine or El Pais.

EXCHANGING
We are happy to announce the 13th CA²RE conference under the topic EXCHANGING. The conference will take place at the Aarhus School of Architecture in association with ARENA, EAAE and ELIA.
The CA²RE Community (Conferences for Artistic and Architectural Research) is an open network that aims to improve Design-Driven research quality through intensive peer-reviewing at critical stages. The CA²RE conferences bring together senior staff, advanced researchers and early-career researchers to understand, scrutinise and enhance the quality of research through intensive peer reviews.
EXCHANGING focuses on the shared learning spaces of DESIGN-DRIVEN RESEARCH. We want to explore and expand ways of presenting, communicating and providing feedback to design-driven research. We will develop the event’s structure and test new presentation formats to strengthen the dialogue and exchange.
