Presentation: Vol 1 – First part of a trilogy on regenerative building
Presentation: Vol 1- first part of a trilogy on regenerative building
The activity of building buildings has a significant impact on ecosystems. can this activity be incorporated into regenerative processes of cultivation and nature restoration projects?
You will NOT receive an answer to this question on March 24!
But that is broadly the question addressed by the research project – Regenerative buildings – examples, processes, and narratives from an ongoing paradigm shift (2025-2026)
The first part of the trilogy, however, presents a literature study conducted by Elizabeth Donovan, which clarifies what ‘regenerative’ actually means in relation to the built environment.
Approximately 60 examples of built projects with different aspects of the regenerative spectrum are discussed, selected by a larger project group from AARCH and ACRB.
Finally, August Sørensen reflects on the difficult field of quantifying and evaluating highly complex ecosystemic relationships both off-site and on-site.
Program
3 pm: Welcome by Prof. Thomas Bo Jensen, advisory chair for the research project.
3.10-3.40 pm: The term ‘regeneration’ and what it means for architecture.
Short presentation by Lotte Bjerregaard Jensen, introducing the literature study and the 60 examples.
…followed by a conversation with architect Kristoffer Tejlgaard (Andelsgaarde A/S and Atelier Kristoffer Tejlgaard) and Katrine Wiberg (AARCH) and Lotte Bjerregaard Jensen (AARCH) .
3.40 – 4.10 pm Reflections on quantifying an ecosystemic relationship
Short presentation by August Sørensen, External Lecturer and Ekolab: Reflections on quantifying an ecosystemic relationship. – followed by a conversation between biologist Kristine Kjørup Rasmussen (OIKOS), Engineer and external lecturer August Sørensen, Professor Steffen Petersen AU, and Assistant Professor Pil Brix AU
4:15 p.m:
A glass of wine and an opportunity to browse through the publication and purchase it (while supplies last) or at saxo.com.
PS
Reserve the date for Vol.2 in the trilogy: discusses in depth 11 built cases in their ecosystems.
It will be presented in Aarhus Center for Regenerative Building the Tuesday 16th of June 2026, Europaplads 8, 8000 C.
