Rob Adams is an architect and urban designer and Director of Melbourne-based practice Adams Urban. Across more than 40 years at the City of Melbourne, including 24 years as Director of City Design and Projects, he helped lead the rejuvenation of central Melbourne. As a Director of City Design & Projects, Rob put into place in 1985 the first comprehensive urban design strategy for the city. Since then, Rob has made a significant contribution to the rejuvenation of central Melbourne.

He received an Order of Australia in 2007, was named the Prime Minister’s Environmentalist of the Year in 2008 and received the Australian Institute of Architects’ National President’s Prize in 2018. The City of Melbourne teams he led received over 175 international, national, state and local awards.

Since co-founding Adams Urban in 2020, Rob has provided urban design, city strategy, design review, facilitation and expert advisory services across Australia and internationally.
