Biennale in Aarhus, Denmark, March 5 – April 10 2026
Participation fee (exhibition and symposium): General €300; Independents and PhD students €150.
Registration will open after the final acceptance of proposals.
To qualify for a refund, cancellations must be made through the registration link by February 1, 2026. A processing fee will be deducted from the refund.
Please note that it is the responsibility of the exhibitors to organize and pay for shipping to and from their own country to and from the exhibition venue in Aarhus.
All works must arrive by March 2nd, 2026, and be picked up or shipped back by April 15th, 2026.
The exhibitor is responsible for providing and paying for insurance during transportation and exhibition.
Please note that the exhibition is unguarded. Works + Words 2026 Biennale in Artistic Research in Architecture is not responsible for damage to works.
Getting to Aarhus by air:
Aarhus Airport Tirstrup located 40 km north of the city. The airport offers international flights to various European destinations. An airport shuttle bus operates from Aarhus Airport with frequent departures connected to arriving aeroplanes. It takes about 50 minutes to reach downtown Aarhus.
Billund Airport, located 100 km south of Aarhus. Billund Airport offers direct international flight connections to various European destinations. An airport shuttle bus with several daily departures travels between Aarhus and Billund Airport, The journey from Billund Airport to downtown Aarhus takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Copenhagen Airport, located 300 km east of Aarhus. Copenhagen Airport offers many direct international flight connections. There are several domestic departures between Copenhagen Airport and Aarhus Airport Tirstrup on weekdays and some on Saturdays and Sundays. A train with hourly departures travels between Copenhagen Airport and Aarhus. The train journey takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes.
By train:
Aarhus main stations have hourly train departures to the north, south, and west. Connections from Southern and Central Europe are available via Hamburg/Flensburg, with a travel time of approximately five hours from Hamburg to Aarhus. There are hourly services between Aarhus and Copenhagen with a travel time of around 3 hours.
By car:
Aarhus has convenient access to the extensive European motorway network. Travel time to Hamburg is approximately four hours. It takes about three hours to drive to Copenhagen.
By taxi:
Taxi services are available. Uber, Bolt and similar ride-sharing services are not available in Denmark.

There is no designated conference hotel for ARCC-EAAE 2024. Hotels near the train station or in the centre of Aarhus will be within walking distance of the conference venue. There are also many Airbnb options throughout the city.
