STUDENT HOUSING
Below, please find suggestions and hints for obtaining a place to live while studying at the Aarhus School of Architecture. We do not offer accommodations to guest and exchange students.
HOW TO FIND HOUSING
HOUSING AS AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT
- The most effective method of securing housing in Aarhus has been among current students with the Aarhus School of Architecture. Those students leaving for exchanges, internships or on-leave semesters most often announce their available housing unit on the Facebook group “Student Bulletin Board”. As a full-degree, guest or exchange student, you are entitled to become a member of this group pending your admission. Put in an add two to three months before the semester starts, and make sure to up-date or remove it.
- Student Housing Aarhus is an organization that coordinates almost all student dormitories in the greater Aarhus area. At Student Housing Aarhus, you can sign up on the waiting list 6 months before you start your studies, and you do not need any admission documents when you sign up on the waiting list. In Aarhus, you cannot live on campus.
The dorms are situated all over the Aarhus area (including on the outskirts), and always with public buses nearby. Only a few residences provide furniture, so be aware of this when you are applying for a room. If you choose an unfurnished room, you need to furnish your room after arrival. You can find descriptions of the different residences at www.studenthousingaarhus.com (click ‘bolig’). - Boligportal is a search engine for housing all over Denmark. You’ll find the website here:
www.boligportal.dk/en and search “Aarhus” to get the current offers available in the area. Please remember to require a rental contract before transferring/paying any money. - Please note: When entering into an agreement to sublet, rent, or even buy an apartment, be critical. We have seen instances of students being subject to fraudulent offers. Always require a rental contract, make certain that money is being transferred via bank accounts, etc., to minimize the chances of being subject to a fraudulent offer.
- Beware of scammers. Unfortunately, a few students have fallen victim to housing scammers. Here are a few simple tips to avoid scams
