Emilie Boye Kjær (DK) is an architect MAA and co-founder of A part of Sum.
 
A part of Sum creates spaces and buildings for the diversity, fragility, celebration and seriousness, in which life is facilitated. 
With a playful approach, they develop architecture that celebrates everyday life and the small details (part) that enrich the great whole (sum).
 
As a young studio, they find it important to thrive in between the academic speculative thought and the love of exploring craft, the buildable detail and story telling. 
In recent years, that has resulted in a number of projects of widely varying nature and scale: From a multi-generational house on Amager to visitor facilities on Himmelbjerget. From the transformation of a chapel on Frederiksberg to the renovation of a 70’s student housing in Christianshavn. 
 
The studios was appointed the carrier program The Young Artistic Elite by the Danish Art Foundation in 2024, as well as the Dreyer Foundation Grant Program for Newly Established Architectural Firms in 2025.
