See the cultural environments of the Danish municipalities

We are mapping around 2300 cultural environments in 54 Danish municipalities.

Aarhus School of Architecture has carried out a strategic screening of cultural environments in 54 municipalities. The screenings were performed based on the SAK Method and include descriptions, photos and maps of the cultural environments of the involved municipalities. How valuable a cultural environment is in terms of cultural history and architecture and how it forms part of the local context has also been assessed.

In a similar manner, the intrinsic characteristics of the cultural environments within the areas of tourism, habitation, business development and cultural experiences are also assessed. The assessment of the characteristics of the cultural environment examines qualities in the cultural environment that are potential resources or can promote positive developments. The assessment clarifies which area the cultural environment’s potential falls within and how it can manifest itself in municipal strategic planning.
